Michael Howley is the founding partner of Quantarus Capital Partners. Since 1995, Mr. Howley has enjoyed successful senior roles in investment banking, wealth management, and private equity. At Quantarus, Mr. Howley serves as a transactional consultant and has evaluated hundreds of investment opportunities for Quantarus and for clients. He advises on capitalizing transactions and fund structures for clients. He also conceived, designed, and developed Group Gyft, an online funding platform.
Prior to Quantarus, Mr. Howley was Chief Operating Officer for BlackArch Partners, a leading middle market investment banking firm in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Howley was Senior Vice President with US Trust, where he founded a business model focused on transactionally created wealth. Mr. Howley also served as a Managing Director and senior investment banker focused on mergers & acquisitions and originating debt, equity, and advisory business with private equity groups and their portfolio companies while on the Wachovia Securities platform. He began his investment banking career with Bowles Hollowell Conner & Co., the nationally known M&A boutique recognized for creating the business of middle market investment banking.
Throughout his career, Mr. Howley has enjoyed developing relationships and consummating transactions with privately held and sponsor-owned companies. Mr. Howley has experience across a variety of sectors including industrial manufacturing; financial services; technology; consumer & retail; media and telecommunications; healthcare; and energy & power. His investment banking career was focused on serving the middle market, executing transactions between $15 million and $300 million, but he has also served as a senior deal team leader on transactions over $1 billion. At Quantarus Capital Partners, his focus is on lower middle market transactions.
Mr. Howley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering at the University of Virginia. After four years as a financial analyst and operational consultant with Marriott Corporation in Washington, D.C., Mr. Howley returned to the University of Virginia where he earned a Masters of Business Administration at The Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is currently an inactive member of the North Carolina State Bar.
